Phillips de Pury Contemporary & Street Art Results

This past Saturday, Sept. 6th, marked the much anticipated Contemporary and Urban Art Auction at Phillips de Pury, London. To date, this is largest sale of its kind, with several artists coming to auction for the first time. Speculation over the past few years, coupled with the recent dip in market confidence had many collectors watching closely as the results rolled in.  The Art Collectors highlights the sale after the jump.

All final values include 25% buyer’s premium. 

Chris Johanson – Acrylic on wood. (61 1/4 x 44 in) Estimate: £2000 – 3000. Sold: £6,250.

Estimate: £6,00 – 8,000. Sold: £8125.

SWOON (With Dave Ellis) – Zahra, Charcoal, latex, and ribbons on cut-out paper on wood. ( 95 x 61 in.) Estimate: £8,000-12,000. Sold: £13,750.

Antony Micaleff – 21st Century Love, Giclée print on paper. (35 1/4 x 35 1/4 in). Ed. of 95. Estimate:  £5,00-7,000. Sold: £9,375.

FAILE – Forbidden Love, 
Acrylic, screenprint and varnish on canvas. (52 1/2 x 41 1/2 in). Estimate: £15,000-25,000. Sold: £27,500.

BANKSY – Soup Can,  Screenprint on paper. (19 1/2 x 13 3/4 in. Ed of 250. Unsold Lot.

BANKSY – Rat with Umbrella, spraypaint on cardboard. (21 x 17 1/2 in.)  Additional graphite on paper drawing on verso. Estimate: £35,000-45,000. Unsold Lot.
