Phantasmagoria by Mark Dean Veca
Mark Dean Veca’s Phantasmagoria was unleashed on 11 October, 2008 at Otis’ Ben Maltz Gallery. The scale was enormous, yet more detailed than any previous installation by the artist. There are references to both Eastern and Western culture with a toile de jouy pattern motif mashed with Japanese waves. In addition, the artist’s Boogeyman character made it’s first appearance on the walls. As an exceedingly ambitious effort, successfully rendered into reality, this event signals very big things for the artist. Several of the original art pieces, available through the artist’s studio, have already been sold to notable collectors. TAC congratulates Mark Dean Veca on displaying a new level of virtuosity.
