FAILE for Sale

faile-burning-bright

FAILE quietly dropped three new prints today, as well as a few originals and a bronze edition. All three prints are editions of 20, measure 25 x 38 inches, and were still available at the time of this posting. Despite measuring only a few inches, the two available small Bronze Bunny Boys (9+10 of an edition of 10) went quickly at $4,000 each, while three originals based off the same images as the new prints were still available for $8,000 each.

Thanks to TWBE for the early tip-off.

Shepard Fairey Soup Can Print II

shepard-fairey-soup-can-print

Iconoclast Editions has just dropped the second of four color variations of Shepard Fairey’s spin on Warhol’s Soup Can. The print measures 16 x 20 inches, and has been released as a signed and numbered edition of  200. As with other Iconoclast releases, there is no set price for the print. Instead, the price steadily rises as the edition gets closer to selling out.  At the time of this post the cost had jumped  from the initial price of $250 to $400 in a matter of minutes. The long sold-out first print of the series was released in 2005 and sits on the website with a final published price of $2,500. The final two color variants are set for release later this summer – snag them early.

KAWS 4 Ft. Dissected Companion Has Arrived

The piece avid KAWS collectors have been waiting for has finally arrived. The 4 Foot Dissected Companion has already sold out at OriginalFake in Tokyo, and a very small amount have quietly made their way stateside. No official word on how many were produced, but we speculate no more than 100, perhaps less, as Medicom’s got to keep the product mold intact long enough to produce the other two color-ways. If it pops up anytime soon, expect to see a secondary market price of at least 7k on this one. The one pictured above belongs to Nigo – of course.

Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito @ LeBasse

koibito

koibito by yamamoto

Rightfully well-supported, Yoskay Yamamoto‘s release of his ‘gallery’ edition Koibito drew in an eager league of fans. Dropping at LeBasse Projects, the vinyl rendition, sculpted by Yamamoto himself,  is a co-production with Munky King. Limited to 150, the white version of this artist-multiple follows on the heels of a phenomenally successful solo art show at the same gallery. For a young artist to be viably defying the present sad state of the economy is indeed impressive and shows the promise he holds for future conquest. A very small portion of prints, also offered at the event, were set aside for release on Paper Tiger at 12:30PM PST on 05/28/09. Word is that a new original painting by Yoskay will be available at the gallery for its opening during this weekend’s Culver City Art Walk. Photos follow:  Read the rest of this entry »

KAWS x Sorayama Figure

kaws-sorayama-companion

We just caught wind of this upcoming figure collaboration between KAWS and Hajimie Sorayama. Based off the signature on the sketch, its clear this conceptual design was illustrated by Sorayama, however KAWS hinted to the project on his Dec. 2 blog post, noting the two had started working on the project a few years ago. The sculpture will be cast in metal and is a hybrid of the KAWS Companion with Sorayama’s Future Mickey Mouse (pictured below), which was also released by Medicom Toys. We can only guess this guy will be called Future Companion, continuing the ongoing progression of the character that KAWS has already developed, from the Original, through the Five Year Later versions. No news yet on a release date, but price is rumored to be around $1,100.

Josh Keyes / Hunters, Run! Green Vinyl Edition

josh-keyes-hunters-run

AT ARMS LTD. will be releasing the second pressing of the Hunters, Run! EP1 7-inch record on their website, sometime before midnight tonight, EST. The edition features cover and insert art by Josh Keyes and is limited to 100 copies on green vinyl. This is the final press and there will be no future editions of this record.

The company states they will only be offering a very small number of the edition online, as the band will be selling the record in the coming week during their Midwest tour and some copies have already gone during a pre-sale to mailing list members who missed out on the first edition.

In related news, preparation is underway for the second record in the Hunters, Run’s! artist collaboration series. The next 7-inch will feature art by Eric Beltz, who recently won the 2009 PULSE Prize at Pulse Art Fair NY and will be exhibiting with Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Berlin later this year.

Buy the record here, and check Hunters, Run! tour dates here.
