Thomas Campbell Surfaces with New Exhibit and Feature Film
We are extremely excited for Thomas Campbell’s forthcoming gallery show, opening Oct. 30 at V1 in Copenhagen. Campbell has spent the past few years focusing on his surf-film projects, and hasn’t held a major exhibition since his 2006 shows at Museum Het Domain (Netherlands) and Roberts and Tilton Gallery(Los Angeles). His latest movie, The Present, will also be screened for the first time in Scandinavia on Oct. 28.

After 20 Years Rothko Murals Return to Tate Liverpool

In 1988 Tate Liverpool opened it’s doors for the very first time with an exhibition of Mark Rothko’s The Seagram Murals. More than 20 years later the painting have returned to the museum, where they are on display now through March 21, 2010. On Thursday, Oct. 18, Achim Borchardt-Hume, formerly of Tate Modern where he was responsible for curating the recent Rothko exhibition, and now Chief Curator at Whitechapel Gallery, London, will give a unique talk concerning the museum’s long term relationship with Rothko. New Whitney Museum Confirmed

The New York Times confirms that after three years of negotiation, the Whitney Museum has closed a deal with the New York City Economic Development Corporation to build a second museum near the Ganesvoort St. entrance to the new High Line park, located on a former elevated railway line in the Chelsea area of Manhattan. The museum recently singed a contract to buy the city owned site for $18 million, about one-half its actual value.

Shepard Fairey Exhibit Opens Amidst New Legal Controversy

After a hugely successful run at the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, Shepard Fairey’s museum retrospective opened today at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The exhibit premiers just as new and disheartening information surfaces about the artist’s ongoing legal battle with the Associated Press.

FAILE Debuts New Works with New Gallery
After debuting a new installation at Perry Rubenstein in September, FAILE have officially announced the gallery is now representing them in the U.S. The artist duo will unveil the below series of Wood Paintings with Rubenstein at FIAC, Paris, which runs Oct. 22-25. Anonymous Gallery Returns with Subculture Capital

Opening to a huge crowd last night, Anonymous Gallery presented their first show in a new temporary exhibit space, hosted at the downtown NY venue, Collective Hardware. Subculture Capital joins together four accomplished New York based artists, including Warhol’s lead Factory assistant during the 70s, Ronnie Cutrone, Kostas Seremetis, Rostarr and Rammellzee. After a recent relocation to Stockholm, Sweden, Brendan Monroe returns to California for his third exhibit with Richard Heller Gallery. Places Between Here and Here opens Oct. 17 and features new painting and wood sculpture installations.
