Os Gemeos New York Mural – Day1
Summertime in the Lower East Side has just gotten a little brighter. Os Gemeos have descended on New York and have set up shop on the corner of Houston and Bowery. The brothers from Sao Pãulo were invited by Deitch Projects to create a public mural at the now former site of the Keith Haring tribute wall. The project is still in its beggining stages, with today marking the first full day of production.
Though the twins did leave their mark in the streets while prepping last year’s unforgettable exhibit with Deitch, this is their first large-scale legal commission in the city since making a spectacular contribution to Coney Island as part of Creative Time’s Dreamland Artist Club.
Expect to see the duo at work over the next week and perhaps stop by with an offering of a cold beverage. Read on for our images of the early stages, taken throughout the first day and click for larger views. More to come….
