NYC::Now Open - Banksy’s Village Pet Store!!!
Looks like Banksy’s recent outdoor walls were just a sign of more things to come. With no prior announcement, the artist has quietly updated his website, revealing that his latest indoor installation in already open in New York. Disguised as “The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill,” the show bares absoltely no marks of the artist or his famously recognizable characteristics, with zero traces of graffiti, painting or stenciling. Instead, the tiny store front has been converted into a conceptual installation utilizing animatronics to create a bizarre fantasy pet shop that seems better suited for the Twilight Zone than New York’s West Village.
Banksy has posted several teaser videos on both his site and You Tube. You can watch them right here after the jump. The clips suggest this one must be seen in person, so tell your boss you’re sick and go there right now. The location? 89 7th Ave. between Bleeker and West 4th Street. Open to the public 10am-Midnight until Halloween, Oct. 31.
With surprises like this, and seemingly nothing available to purchase, we wonder what else Sir Banksy has in store for us stateside…
